Poultry Bio Security
What is Bio Security? Why is it important?
Biosecurity is a set of preventative measures designed to reduce the risks of infectious disease transmission to and among livestock. It means doing everything you can to reduce the chances of an infectious disease being carried onto your farm/property by people, animals, equipment or vehicles.
As we know all too well infectious diseases can change the course of our lives with catastrophic effects. Most livestock people are extremely cautious when it comes to the health and welfare of their animals. Unfortunately sometimes disease finds a way and the race begins to stop the spread.
The links below are some examples of what we all can do to help lessen the risk for spread. At our farm for normal practice we have a buffer area, quarantine set up for both poultry and livestock, we utilize a consistent daily check list for barn work and most importantly we are stringent about all visitors and vehicles adhering to our protection plan.
